Selkie's

I collect Selkie art. Something that bothers me though when I run a search for it is that I see a lot of blond selkie's. The Selkie's of myth are DARK HAIRED. The "dark Irish" were known as descendents of the selkie woman whose skin was captured and hidden. Being a dark irish woman myself it bothers me when I see them depicted as blond. Another thing that bothers me is when I see them depicted like mermaids, however I understand that it can be a little difficult to show BOTH side of the selkie. Anyways just one of my pet peeves is all. TA!

Great! I have you on my watch now so I'll keep an eye out for it. Oh, a note. I know you see a lot depicted as blond but, if you do the research, they are dark haired irish, usually curly, with blue-green eyes.. like mine. I come from irish heritage. The dark irish like myself were said to be descendents of the selkie bride thus why I like them so much. Oh I'm babbling oops ^.^ hope I'm not sounding preachy or anything I just love Selkie's so much. I'll watch for it!

Ok I might get a friend or two to buy some prints. That makes me happy -schemes to get more friends to buy prints- happily i will have time to do more work now. I got a LATE night job so I can stay up lateness. Just have to do it when the boyfriend is not here mostly. LOL
